Mombasa with its blend of ancient and modern buildings is claimed to be the oldest town in East Africa.
A comprehensive tour of the island will include a visit to the ancient Portuguese Structure of Fort Jesus, built by the Portuguese in 1593 guarding the entrance to the old harbor, this beautiful town of ancient Persians holds much history behind the Trans Atlantic trade of Indian Ocean during the era of Slave trade.
This tour further takes you to the old Arabs town with its maze of narrow twisting alleys, displaying the beautifully carved doors, goldsmith and curio shops, Hindu temple and finally the Akamba handicraft Co-operative workshop. Where over 300 members produce different wood carving at wholesale and favorable price.
The journey through Mombasa includes the visit of the elephant tusks that marks the slave trade by Persians and Arabs along East African Coast.
